Giselle Monteiro is not from India

We wrote about Harleen Kaur in our last post on Love Aaj Kal. But it seems people are still googling who plays Harleen Kaur ? And almost every reviewer has mentioned her name or her character’s name. She may not have much to say but her look has worked and how!

It happens. Recently during the screening of Delhi-6, at the interval, I turned to my freind and asked, who is this Rama Bua ? Later on, got to know that all my friends and their million other friends also wanted to know the same. We googled, found out more and finally confirmed that she is happily married and is a delhi based dancer Aditi Rao Hydari!

Ok. So back to Harleen Kaur in Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal. Believe it or not, she may look the coy desi girl with old world charm but she is not from India! Giselle Monteiro is a Brazilian model who has no clue about hindi and hindi films. She came to audition for the part of Saif’s other girlfriend. But was later on selected for the role of Harleen Kaur. Imtiaz Ali managed to make her act but her lines were dubbed. Strange are the ways of bollywood! But as long as Harleen Kaur looks Harleen Kaur, we arent complaining. Desi, firangi or from any other planet!

Giselli Monteiro vs Giselle Montero

Hi friends!

I would like to talk about a star whose name is Giselli Monteiro recently made the film "Love Aaj Kal".

Giselli Monteiro was born in Espirito Santo, Brazil and came to Mumbai, India in 2008. Being brought up in a sunny beach side of a tropical country, she appreciates all things that come her way and firmly believes that each one is path to her destiny.

Having started to work early in life, she has been fortunate to have travelled to Italy, Germany, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Philippines. Giselli yearns to learn and absorb as much as possible from every culture that she interacts with.

Giselli portrayed the role of Harleen Kaur in the 2009 Bollywood film, Love Aaj Kal, directed by Imtiaz Ali, who earlier directed films like Jab We Met (2007) and Socha Na Tha (2005). Her family and friends are happy for her to have coveted such launch in an Indian film. She is also thankful for the privilege to perform with such a mega star cast including Saif Ali Khan, as Veer Singh paired with her.

However, nothing is big or small for her, simply because she gives herself fully to everything that she commits too. This may, perhaps, stem from the fact that, being a girl who feels for everything she does, she tries her best to deliver and sometimes even exceeds the expectations she may have created for herself.
